A Montgomery County Circuit Court judge sentenced Ervin Alfaro-Lopez, 34, of Germantown, to 55 years in prison, with all but 20 years suspended, after he pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a minor and three counts of third-degree sex offense.
Governor Wes Moore announced that Maryland state government agencies and offices will be closed on Wednesday, December 24, in observance of Christmas Eve, with state offices also closed on Christmas Day, December 25. The Comptroller of Maryland has submitted regulatory amendments that will raise the tire recycling fee to $1.00 and add a new $5.00 new tire fee on the first sale of a new tire in the state, effective January 1, 2026.
