A suspect has been apprehended in connection with a stabbing incident at the intersection of Fenton Street and Ellsworth Drive in Silver Spring on Thursday afternoon. This incident, which was not random but arose from a dispute between the parties involved, is under active investigation by Montgomery County Police Department’s 3rd District officers.

DMV

As school sessions commence and coffee shops bring back their pumpkin-flavored beverages, it’s important to note that this year’s last summer day is technically on Monday, September 22. However, from a meteorological perspective, researchers and scientists mark September 1st as the official end of summer for statistical and record-keeping purposes. The Washington Post’s Capital Weather Gang (CWG) has already declared the season’s end in D.C., and MoCoSnow is calling it for Maryland as well, particularly here in Montgomery County.

MoCo Police

On Thursday night, officers from the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) were involved in an incident that unfolded on Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring. At approximately 8:16 pm, officers from the 3rd District attempted to initiate a traffic stop after identifying a stolen license plate on a vehicle suspected to be stolen. The location of the attempted stop was 9520 Georgia Ave.

Chevy Chase

Eugene Gligor, 45, of Washington, D.C., was sentenced to 30 years in prison, with 22 to serve and five years of supervised probation after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the 2001 killing of Leslie Preer in Chevy Chase, a case solved in 2024 through forensic genetic genealogical DNA analysis. MCPD

The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) has partnered with the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) to provide discounted tuition for employees and their families, offering expanded opportunities for undergraduate and graduate programs. As part of the agreement, UMGC will award up to 60 credits to officers who complete police training and may grant up to 30 additional credits for prior learning and work experience, helping expedite the path toward a degree.
