The Montgomery County Division of the Maryland-National Capital Park Police have announced that a 20-year-old man from Silver Spring has been arrested and charged in connection to a sexual assault that occurred on Sunday.

Sligo Middle School in Silver Spring was placed on lockdown and a shelter-place-in place on Friday, February 9th due to police activity.
According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, “In the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, before the Honorable Theresa Chernosky, defendant, Trevon G. Brox, 28, of Washington, D.C. has pleaded guilty to charges of attempted second-degree murder and use of a firearm in a crime of violence for shooting at a Maryland-National Capital Park Police officer.
Montgomery County Park Police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a lost hiker around 6pm on Thursday, December 28 in Boyds.
Update: Per MCFRS Spokesperson Pete Piringer: “Park Police UTV & UTV731 located hiker at 7pm. 1 adult being assisted back to roadway/staging, MCFRS EMS evaluating for possible transport before releasing.”
On November 23, Officer Avellan of Montgomery County Park Police responded to a call at Gunners Lake Park in Germantown for a dog that had been abandoned and left tied to a tree. The dog was taken to Montgomery County’s Animal Service and Adoption Center shelter that night, but was never claimed. Earlier this week, Officer Avellan retuned to the shelter and has adopted the dog– he named her Maple.
