The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin enhancing bike lanes on MD 190 (River Road) in Bethesda between Brookside Drive and Little Falls Parkway on Wednesday, October 8, with work expected to finish by the end of the month, weather permitting. Improvements include new pavement markings, green paint, and flex-post delineators to improve visibility and safety, with weekday single-lane closures scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until completion. Update: The incident was initially reported by MCPD as a crash involving a cyclist, but a later update clarified that the crash involved a motorcyclist.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) announced that eastbound Montrose Rd. is closed at Tildenwood Dr. following a fatal collision involving a vehicle and a motorcyclist Sunday morning.


Bethesda’s biggest food festival is returning this fall, and with it come several road closures to accommodate the thousands of attendees expected in Woodmont Triangle. The 33rd annual Taste of Bethesda will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and drivers should plan ahead as key streets in downtown Bethesda will be blocked to traffic.

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is reminding residents that, as of Tuesday, July 1, drivers are prohibited from making right turns at red traffic signals in designated downtown and town center areas across the county. The policy, part of the Safe Streets Act of 2023 (Bill 11-23), aims to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety in some of Montgomery County’s busiest corridors. (more…)


A significant collision occurred this morning on the eastbound lanes of MD200 (ICC) between New Hampshire Avenue and Route 29. The incident involved a pedestrian in the highway work zone, causing immediate response from several emergency services.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT), more than 200 “No Turn on Red” signs have recently been installed across Montgomery County as part of the Safe Streets Act of 2023 (MC Bill 11-23). The measure requires MCDOT to add the signs to designated traffic lights unless a safety risk is identified. (more…)
