Montgomery Parks’ popular winter tradition, Garden of Lights, will return to Brookside Gardens on Friday, November 21, 2025. The annual event transforms the Wheaton gardens into a brightly lit winter landscape, featuring more than one million lights displayed along a half-mile walking path.

The Rockville Mayor and Council voted unanimously Monday night to accept a $1.5 million grant from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ Land and Water Conservation Fund to support renovations to RedGate Park and Arboretum.

Education

Nicole Murray-Lewis, a longtime Montgomery County Public Schools educator, has been elected to serve as the teacher member on the Maryland State Board of Education. Murray-Lewis, who currently teaches social studies at James H. Blake High School, received 39.9 percent of the 3,624 votes cast in the statewide election held November 3-17.
