Gordon Ramsay’s new series, “Secret Service,” premiered on May 21st and featured the beloved local Greek restaurant Parthenon, located near the DC/Maryland line at 5510 Connecticut Ave. NW, DC. Today, Callahan’s, located at 1808 Rosemont Ave. in Frederick, MD, will be showcased in the first of a special two-part episode.

Beyond MoCo

Disney almost opened a theme park called Disney’s America in northern Virginia in the early 1990s. The proposed park was to be built in Haymarket, Virginia, near the Manassas National Battlefield Park, and would have been themed around American history.

Historic Indigenous Recognition Event to Take Place in Montgomery County, Maryland

MCFRS

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) recently shared information regarding the county’s Flood Sensor Partnership– a cooperative effort among County agencies responsible for various aspects of Public Safety, Storm Event Preparedness and Response, and Emergency Management, along with the federal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to install 35 next generation IoT flood sensors in flood-prone areas of the County. The flood sensors are manufactured by Intellisense and detect rising flood water levels during storm events to send early flood warnings to officials based on real-time monitoring. Maryland

Attorney General Anthony Brown has joined 20 other attorneys general in filing an amicus brief supporting a lawsuit challenging the EPA’s termination of the Environmental and Climate Justice Block Grant Program, which was created under the Inflation Reduction Act to aid communities disproportionately impacted by pollution and climate change.

Jeffrey’s Subs & Pizza at 15547 Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville, which operated as Jerry’s Subs & Pizza for three decades before rebranding in 2020, has announced it will permanently close on Monday, July 14th.
