Chief Antonio DeVaul from the Takoma Park Police Department announced the arrest of Mohamed Sheriff Kanu, 33, of Silver Spring, Maryland, for theft and assault.
Attorney General Anthony Brown and 20 other state attorneys general filed an amicus brief supporting a legal challenge to Executive Order 14163, which suspends the U.S. Refugee Assistance Program, arguing the order unlawfully undermines federal law and harms states that welcome and support refugees.

McDonald’s has opened its newest restaurant at 11710 Rockville Pike in North Bethesda, located in the former Arby’s site, which closed its last Montgomery County location in May 2021.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has filed a lawsuit against Criswell Chevrolet, Inc. in Maryland, alleging the company violated the Americans with Disabilities Act by denying a parts department worker with PTSD the reasonable accommodation of using a service dog and failing to provide alternative options. The EEOC claims the denial forced the employee to quit and is seeking damages and injunctive relief. (more…)

On the evening of Sunday, March 22, 1992, a customer at Sugarloaf Mountain Market, located at 23800 Old Hundred Road in Comus, found the owner, 57-year-old James Essel, deceased inside the store– having been stabbed multiple times. Twenty-eight years later, in February 2020, the man whose DNA linked him to the murder was killed by Virginia Beach Police.
