Beyond MoCo

Kalahari Resort, currently under construction in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, is scheduled to open in late 2026. The large-scale indoor water park and resort complex is located less than 75 miles south of Washington, D.C., and about 80 miles from central Montgomery County, making it a relatively short drive for many area residents. The National Weather Service (NWS) warned Saturday morning that dangerous cold and powerful winds would continue across most of Maryland and Northern Virginia, with life-threatening conditions expected to last through Sunday morning.

Founded by Montgomery County resident Nicole Cerquitella, the Casserole Club began a year ago as a grassroots effort to support some of the community’s most vulnerable neighbors. What started as a small volunteer initiative has grown into a consistent, monthly operation that brings people together to cook and serve nutritious, home-style meals to local shelters across the county.

Maryland

Maryland athletes are preparing to take the world stage as the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics get underway in Milano-Cortina, Italy. With competitions spanning Feb 6-22 for the Olympics and March 6-15 for the Paralympics, several Team USA competitors with deep Maryland roots will be chasing medals while carrying hometown pride with them overseas, as shared by the Maryland Department of Energy Management.
