Gaithersburg

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS ) responded to a collision early Wednesday at northbound I-270 near Exit 10, where a car went off the road into the woods and split in half.

According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, crews searched the area with thermal imaging but found no occupants, and Gaithersburg Police later located the uninjured driver walking on Montgomery Village Avenue.

Gaithersburg

The City of Gaithersburg has released unofficial results from the November 4, 2025 municipal election, showing strong support for incumbent Mayor Jud Ashman and current Council Members Lisa Henderson and Jim McNulty, securing the two available City Council seats.

According to preliminary tallies, Ashman received 4,364 votes (73.77%), defeating challenger Tiffany Kelly, who earned 1,552 votes (26.23%).

Takoma Park Middle School teacher Joseph (Joe) Evans, a longtime Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) educator, earned a victory on Jeopardy! on Tuesday, November 4, representing Montgomery and Prince George’s County (where he currently lives) on the iconic quiz show.

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has shared via a press release that the school system recorded notable improvement in this year’s Maryland School Report Card results, with 95.5% of schools earning a rating of three stars or higher, well above the statewide average of 86%, according to data released by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).

MoCo History

The Montgomery County Council approved an amendment to add Timberlawn to Montgomery County’s Master Plan for Historic Preservation. The vote follows the May 2025 recommendation by the Montgomery County Planning Board to historically designate the North Bethesda house where Eunice Kennedy Shriver launched Camp Shriver, a day camp for children with intellectual disabilities that inspired the creation of Special Olympics.
