Starting Feb. 9, the City of Frederick will begin phasing out all physical on-street parking meters in downtown Frederick as part of a broader effort to modernize the city’s parking system. The news was recently shared by City of Frederick Government.

Montgomery County Councilmember Laurie-Anne Sayles introduced a $1 million one-time special appropriation, co-sponsored by Council President Natali Fani-González and other councilmembers, to help stabilize senior nutrition, homecare, and respite care programs impacted by federal funding cuts.
The proposal is intended as immediate relief for vulnerable residents while maintaining long-term fiscal responsibility and will be considered at a public hearing later this month.
