A fundraiser has been launched to support the family of the Odessa Shannon Middle School student who was seriously injured on Wednesday, October 22, during a physical education class in Silver Spring. According to his mother, Emily Diaz, the funds will help cover medical expenses and any specialized items her son may need during his recovery. (more…)


Gaithersburg

California Tortilla will close its Gaithersburg location at 12211 Darnestown Road on November 2, a store representative confirmed today. The fast-casual Mexican restaurant, located in the Quince Orchard Marketplace shopping center, across from Quince Orchard High School, has been a local favorite for years but will soon serve its final burritos, bowls, and tacos.

Crime

Following a 12-day trial in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, a jury convicted 27-year-old DeAngelo McRoy of first-degree murder, armed carjacking, armed robbery, and use of a firearm in a felony related to the 2024 killing of Delondre Sawyer in Gaithersburg. (more…)
