Metro is reminding customers of a new systemwide banning policy that took effect this week. The purpose of the banning policy is to prohibit a person who commits a sex crime or a sex-related crime, anyone who violates Metro’s Passenger Conduct Rule, or a person who commits any assault on a Metro employee, contractor, or customer from entering or using the Metro system, properties, or facilities for more than 24 hours.

Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown and attorneys general from 20 states filed a brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit opposing the Trump administration’s ban on transgender military service, arguing it harms national and state security and violates constitutional rights.

Montgomery County has announced two free fireworks celebrations: Germantown Glory on Friday, July 4 at South Germantown Recreational Park and Mid-County Sparkles on Saturday, July 5 at Albert Einstein High School, both starting at 7 p.m. with live music and fireworks set for 9:15 p.m. In addition to the Montgomery County government events, fireworks will also take place at Gaithersburg’s SummerFest on Saturday, June 28 at Bohrer Park and at Rockville’s Independence Day Celebration on Friday, July 4 at Mattie J.T.
